JOHANNES ANDERSEN (1903 – 1991)
[yo-hʌh’nes ænə’sn] is considered as the leading figure in Danish Modernism Movement. He started his career as professional cabinet maker and was quickly recognised as gifted person. While being employed in several workshops he designed his own furniture that encouraged him to open up a private atelier in mid 1930s, the time Danish Modernism was on the rise.

Besides his solo career, Andersen cooperated with the Swedish furniture manufacturer Trensum. Their fruitful cooperation gave a birth to series of unique extendable tables and seating full of organic details (e.g. the Capri Sofa 1958).

Andersen’s designs are remarkably elegant and convenient for any interior.
